Sometimes we see things differently than how we should see them. Our eyes show us things that we want to see sometimes and hide the things we choose not to see. This is the difference in perception and reality.
Recently I started wearing glasses and believe me, the journey to glasses has been a long arduous one. It’s not that I didn’t need them, it’s that I wouldn’t admit that I needed them. I happen to love my face without the addition of glasses, no matter how nice they looked or how I looked in them.
So I decided to put my opinion aside, rather I decided to “see” better! I got my new glasses and wore them as needed. Well anyone who knows about vision understands that when you wear glasses, your eyes become dependent upon them and in most cases your eyes progress each year to need a little bit more prescription. After about a year of wearing my glasses I noticed that things that were once clear were now becoming blurry again.
My eyes were becoming more dependent on my glasses but eventually they “weren’t working” for me anymore. I went to an optometrist and she told me that this was a natural progression and although my vision was changing it was only a slight change that needed a tiny bit more of a prescription. As I listened to her talk about my changing vision I couldn’t help thinking about how our vision changes about life over time. It isn’t an abrupt change that happens but it is a slow, gradual change that takes place.
It is almost like we now “see” through different eyes. The Bible says; For we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as I am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12 (KJV)
We “see” what we choose to see, but as we mature our level of understanding broadens our scope of things and we”See” better! We understand Better, and therefore we should Do Better, and ultimately Be Better.
Take some time today to See Better, Do Better, and Be Better!
Blessings~
